Anyone into the Re-form brand of freeform (that’ll be everyone, surely) will like this – a mid-production video of Laz at work on the upcoming track Decade. Personally I’m not a fan of the dubstep-style bass wobbling that’s popular at the moment (as I’m a dinosaur and can’t let go of the 90s sub), but the tune itself is sounding excellent, with some really good melodies.
Anyway, it’s both very cool and educational to see the track under construction like this, and also good that Re-form are still working on new material. Back to reality after this post though, as I’m going to spend a bit of time on a newish track I’ve been messing around with…very little chance of it turning into anything playable, but you never know.
It’s a very sweet track with catchy and well made melodies + synth design.
I agree with you regarding the dubstep-ish bass. I may had prefered this with a more “typical” bassline.
Dubstep is actually very cool and I discovered it for me a while ago, but it’s somewhat disctracting in Reform’s track. At least it feels so for me. It’s somewhat interfering the lead melody and I prefer the lead more dominant and not battling with the bass. 🙂
Overall, it’s very cool to hear the most defining part of dubstep fused with freeform. Respects to Re-form for adding new flavors to Freeform. It’s actually the right way, because it FREEFORM! 😉
This one is sounding very good! I don’t really like dubstep either (the little I’ve heard didn’t convince me) but it fits extremely well here. I think it’s because it’s not overdone nor exageratted, or simply because there’s more to the track than just those basslines.
I really like the overall feel of this track and am looking forward to the final version; pretty sure it’ll be a hit!
Good to know plasmadancer is back to the studio, too~
also, maybe you have watched this already, but here goes:

Loving the sound of this even though I too would prefer to hear it built around more of a “typical” bassline. Will be interesting to hear more of it!
I have just ordered a couple of CDs from EE and was thinking of how sad it is that you don’t hear much of Re-form, Carbon Based and Pain On Creation these days.
Good to see Re-form is still active. 🙂
And I am sure you’ll come up with a nice tune as well Plasma. Keep it up! 🙂
Agreed Labraska, not enough of CB, PoC or Reform!
Maybe we should recommend they all get together and make one 😀 Would be pretty badass if you ask me 😉
Sorry guys, I haven’t had much time for comment checking this week!

Another awesome find, good work 🙂 I’ll put it up as a post later on today.
Thanks to you and Labraska for the encouragement, too…the tune’s not sounding terrible, but doesn’t even have drums yet…more than a bit early to tell what’ll happen to it 😀

As far as I know, PoC has officially stepped away from freeform, so we won’t be seeing any new stuff in the future…
CB are working on their album though, and it seems like Re-form are back in the swing of things, so there’s enough to be looking forward to there 😉
