New Wave of Intelligent DnB?
-
Alright I confess I thought of Jon when I heard this, but I think you’ll appreciate it still.
This is what seems like it could be a return of the glorious days of mid-90’s intelligent, if it is, brilliant, if not, it’s a nice piece of modernised nostalgia.
Enjoy 🙂
Most of it was a bit too vocal-heavy for me, but I did like “Viber” and “Lost Souls” a little. I wonder what Jon would think!
Meant to reply here an age ago, but since then I’ve heard about all the new jungle that’s been appearing this year!
I agree with Sherkel that a few of Dyz’s original tunes are a bit too vocal-heavy and while there are some nice deep moments they mostly sound much more of the 1999-2000 proto-liquid kind of thing, to my ears. Check out some of these though, on a label called Rua Sound that’s pushing some lovely 94-esque stuff:
Some proper amen edits going on in that first track, and found another promising one that has just been released:
Definite Source Direct influence there! Haven’t had time to hunt more down yet, but just finding these made my day 🙂
I also meant to reply here a while ago! Finally got around to listening to those newer tracks. That Tim Reaper one is really something. Definitely a genre to dig deeper into one of these days.
You might like to start with Pearsall’s new set! Haven’t listened all the way through yet, but Pearsall’s jungle mixing is always top of the line. Much like those tracks I posted above it’s a real 93-94 mix of ragga and deeper stuff, from what I can tell, and must be outrageously good fun to mix.
