Hopefully everyone caught Android Lime and Alek Szahala’s radio show last night? There were some amazing tracks from Alek Szahala, including his upcoming release, Astraia. On hearing it, I realised I knew the track already, but the breakdown is just something else – especially now I’m ‘producing’ myself, his melodies are genuinely awe-inspiring…
For anyone who missed the radio show, it was a fantastic set which went right the way through from hard NRG (including Android Lime’s new track, Sex and Violence), to some very high bpms at the end. I’ll let Android post up a tracklist if/when that’s ok, but one of the tracks in the middle was Betwixt & Between’s recently released Nemesis (included on Hardcore Syndrome 3 included on the Alice’s Emotion COLORS compilation – thanks to eirik for the correction).
He already played it at a couple of NRGetic Romancers, and it’s one of his best for a while – when I first heard the breakdown, I was thinking that the less skilled hardcore producers out there would have stopped at the first melody, others might have kept going with the second, but only the top level (Alek etc) can come up with that final melody as the drums come back in…that’s what takes it into ‘potential classic’ territory, I reckon.
edit: Thanks to Android Lime, here’s the full tracklist for the Radio set:
- Β Intro
- Dark by Design – Stigmata
- Android Lime – Sex and Violence
- Betwixt & Between -The Wander of Hesotarou Tankobu
- Alek Szahala – Astraia
- Alek Szahala – Vertigo
- Alek Szahala – Lagash
- Guld – Hannya X (Android Lime remix)
- Betwixt & Between – Nemesis
- Alek Szahala – Iron Squid
- Chanel5 – Never Forget (Alek Szahala remix)
- Alek Szahala – Human Flesh Engine
Nemesis was in fact released on the album COLORS, on the ALiCE’S EMOTiON label. That’s where all his “Touhou” tracks end up!
It’s as you say though, the final melody after the breakdown is simply amazing.
Oh so that was Btw. I kinda couldn’t tell if it was a track from him or from Szahala, honestly. I’ve got to train my hears better. D;
That said, the radio show last night was brutal. I’m glad I didn’t miss it – I forgot to record since the start, though. :/
Also, I missed out on the show. Gotta learn to take notes of important things in my schedule, argh! π
Any chance of a recording appearing at some point in time?
I would send you what I recorded without a problem, but I’m not sure if Android Lime would be happy. >_>
At any rate, a download link with a tracklist should be uploaded soon by him, so if you can wait… π‘
Yeah, I understand that. Thank you very much though!! If Lime uploads his shows I’ll patiently wait. π
Listened to the set – Most of it was absolutly awesome. I enjoyed it, until the last two tracks. Shoulda left it at Iron Squid…
Not sure what was going on with that crazy cheese-speed-core, or the weird ass speed/terror core that went on as the last tune. As you can probably tell, i don’t like Speedcore/Terrorcore, Gabba and the likes…
Thanks to Eirik for putting me right on the title, I was getting my compilations confused…changed it now though.
I think some of the guys here know about it already, but if you check the ‘Residencies’ section of the LSO forum (http://www.livesets-online.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=97), there are some of the previous shows ready for download. I guess Alek’s will be up there before long π
Chip> I kind of see what you mean, it was a quick jump from the previous stuff to the last two…although I have to say I quite liked the last but one tune!
If I remember rightly Alek finished off his NRGetic Romancer set with Human Flesh Engine…I was lucky enough to have a few words with him at the end, and told him that he nearly killed everyone with the last track. He just smiled and said ‘I know’ π
Not sure if I can say I enjoy the speedcore either, but the sheer brutality of the tune that is The Human Flesh Engine makes me smile. π
A little disappointed that we didn’t get to hear the track played at KonemetsΓ€ 2009 that was in the vid posted here earlier and no one seem to know the name of.
Anyway, lots of good and refreshing tunes. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. π
Just had a super-quick reply from Android Lime, and thanks to him it’s ok to put the tracklist/download link up here today π
Wow, say thanks to Android Lime for me PlasmaDancer! He was really quick with this!
@Chip – I see your point about the last tracks, but damn, I loved Chanel5 – Never Forget (Alek Szahala remix). It really looked like I was in the climax of a MegaDrive shooter game and I had just beaten the last Boss. It was really intense. :p
Iron Squid > Szahala’s remix of Never Forget > The Human Flesh Engine = neighbours calling the police. D;
I’m going to listen to this set all over again, without a doubt, as I also have to pay more attention to Astraia.
In the end, all I have to say is that December couldn’t start better for me. Now when will PlasmaDancer join forces with Android Lime in the next show? :3

I haven’t heard when it’s my turn, but I hope not next time! It would be great if I could get a tune or two finished before the show….and anyway, being the first guest after Alek Szahala would be a bit too much to live up to π
Plasmadancer>
You could do it mate. I believe in you! lol
At least this confirms you really are focused on producing more tracks, which is good to know. ;>
I see a download link and a tracklist, thanks Plasmadancer. π
And nice title change as well hehe π
I can’t keep up with all these comments! Thanks for the support though guys π

Yup, sneaky title change last night π Android has linked here from Facebook, so I thought it might save new people from searching through the depths of TYFTH π
